Kodomo Kid-Friendly Terremoto Cocktail

In honor of Fiestas Patrias (National Day) tomorrow in Chile, we’ve concocted a nonalcoholic version of the Chilean favorite. The name of the drink is Terremoto, which translates to “earthquake” in the Spanish language. It was created at the end of the 20th century after a devastating earthquake hit Chile in 1985.

(Don’t worry adults, there’s also a boozy substitution if you’re feeling in the fiesta mood!)

Ingredients:

1 bottle sparkling grape juice (750 ml)

pineapple ice cream (or sherbert for a non-dairy alternative)

grenadine syrup

Instructions:

Add 2-3 scoops of pineapple ice cream to a glass.

Fill glass with sparkling grape juice, almost to the rim.

Add a generous splash of grenadine over top to give its signature color.

Serve with a straw and enjoy!

Kodomo Adult-Friendly Version: Substitute sweet or fizzy white wine for the grape juice. Be careful….it’s called an “earthquake” for a reason!
